The Oaks Are the Display.
On most Ojai properties the house is long and low and the trees are enormous. That inverts the usual priority. A roofline run on a single-storey ranch reads as a thin line from the road, while a pair of wrapped coast live oaks can be seen from the other end of the valley.
So we tend to design Ojai properties around the trees and treat the roofline as the frame rather than the feature. It is also the honest use of the budget, because a hundred feet of fascia costs the same to light whether or not anyone can see it.
Distance is the practical constraint. Ojai lots are large, and the tree you want lit is often a long way from the nearest exterior outlet. Runs, gauge and timer placement get worked out before install day rather than improvised with extension cords on the afternoon.

Ojai sits inland behind the ridge, which means no marine layer and a genuine temperature drop after sunset — frost on the low-lying parts of the valley is normal in December. Cheap light strings and their connectors get brittle in that, and the failures show up in the coldest week of the season.
We run commercial-grade lights with sealed connectors for exactly that reason, and we come back and fix failures during the season as part of the job rather than leaving you on a ladder in January.

Commercial-grade lights, supplied by us, installed on timers so the property comes on together.

If part of it stops working, we come out and fix it during the season. That is included.

Down in January, boxed, and stored with us until next year. Same display goes back up next season.

Do you serve Ojai and Meiners Oaks?
Yes, both, along with the upper valley. Ojai is a drive from Santa Barbara so we schedule holiday installs there in blocks — booking early gets you a better date as well as a better spot in the season.
Can you light trees a long way from the house?
Yes, but it is worth planning. Large Ojai lots often put the best tree well away from any exterior outlet, so cable runs, gauge and timer placement are worked out during the design rather than improvised on install day.
Do lights fail in the cold Ojai nights?
Cheap ones do. Ojai gets a real temperature drop after sunset and frost is normal in the valley in December, which makes low-grade strings and connectors brittle. We use commercial-grade lights with sealed connectors, and we come back and repair failures during the season as part of the service.
What is included in the price?
